Absence Procedures

Beginning the first day of school, please report absences or tardiness using the call-in line. 978-664-7820 (Press 2)
Call between 3:00PM the night before and 7:30AM the day of the absence.

Please include the following information:
● Child’s full name
● Reason for absence

If a call is not received and a child is absent, Mrs. Tavoletti will call the student’s contact number.

Children are considered chronically absent by the State of Massachusetts if they miss 18 or more days in a school year (10%
threshold of a 180 day school year). This information is submitted to the state annually.
Regular attendance is crucial to academic success.

While illness-related absences are valid and appreciated, we’ve observed an increase in avoidable non-illness related
absences, especially vacations outside of the scheduled school vacation weeks. Please schedule your vacations during district
vacation weeks.

Note: teachers are NOT required to provide work in advance for non medical absences. All missed work must be
completed upon return.
